Leeds remain interested in Nahitan Nandez

Leeds United fans would love to see the club bring in a number of ambitious targets in the summer and the prospect of playing Premier League football would certainly help that.

Marcelo Bielsa was a huge coup for the club when he arrived at Elland Road, however, if he were able to add some South American flair to his side when the transfer window opens up, well, that would make things around the Whites even more exciting.

What’s the News?

According to a report by Calciomercato, Leeds continue to be linked with a move for Nahitan Nandez.

The Uruguay international has been turning heads with his performances over the last season or so and could be available for around €20million (£17.1m), which is not a figure that is too much for a top-flight club to spend.

However, the report also states that Cagliari have reopened talks with the 23-year-old and Boca Juniors about a move.

The Verdict:

If Leeds were to win promotion to the Premier League and make a statement signing, Nandez would have to be strongly considered as a candidate for Bielsa’s side.

The 23-year-old starred for Uruguay at the World Cup and demonstrated why he is a man in demand, as he is extremely talented and one that is likely to continue to improve even further in the future.

Nandez is a box-to-box type of player that would certainly provide Leeds with some additional tenacity in the middle of the park. He makes lung-busting runs in the penalty box to provide his team-mates with options, whilst he is equally adept at playing out on the right-hand side.

He can dictate the tempo of the game whilst in possession, whilst he can press very quickly to try and win the ball back from their opponents.

£17.1m may not appear to be a lot of money, however, Leeds will only have a chance of spending that kind of money on one player if they were to win promotion back to the Premier League.

Leeds fans, would you be excited to see Nandez at Elland Road next season? Do you think £17.1m is a reasonable figure the club should spend on him if they are promoted to the Premier League? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
