The international break may have come at the perfect time for Leeds United and Marcelo Bielsa. With the pressure starting to firmly mount on their automatic promotion aims and injuries starting to happen, the Whites are starting to look strained and their hopes obviously took a dent last weekend.
However, it appears the Championship outfit may have also been using the international break as an opportunity to find some new players to bring to Elland Road in the summer.
What’s the News?
According to a report by O Jogo (via Sport Witness), Leeds had a scout in attendance at the game between Portugal and Serbia on Monday night.
The media outlet have not claimed who Bielsa’s side could have been watching, although it may appear that they are keeping tabs on potential targets for Premier League football next season, should they win promotion.
The match between Portugal and Serbia could be seen as an interesting choice for Leeds to watch, as it could be argued that the club would find it difficult to land any of the players that featured on the night.
One man that could be tempted to join the club if they were promoted to the Premier League could be Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic, as Sport Witness eluded to in their article.
The Cottagers appear destined to be relegated from the top-flight at the end of the season and could look to offload the Serbian forward as their wage bill is likely to be too expensive to control in England’s second tier, whilst he may not be too keen to remain either.
However, with Bielsa in charge, his name could convince a number of players to join him at Elland Road in the summer so it will be interesting to see who does indeed arrive at the club if they win promotion to next season’s Premier League campaign.
