Leeds scout spotted in Portugal once again this weekend

Leeds United appear to have taken a liking to the player pool within one particular country over the past couple of months.

According to Record, via Sport Witness, the Whites were spotted in Portugal once again as their scouts appear to have eyes on some of the talents within the country.

The Elland Road outfit had an official in attendance at the game between Chaves and Vitoria Guimaraes over the weekend, becoming another fixture in Portugal’s top-flight that the Championship side are thought to have taken an interest in recently.

Although no names have been mentioned, it would appear to be a strange match for Leeds to watch just on the off-chance – something Sport Witness eluded to.

Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton Wanderers have had success bringing players over from Portugal recently and it appears as though Marcelo Bielsa could look to replicate that methodology in the near future.

The Verdict:

Leeds will likely look to make some additions in the January transfer window and bringing some unknown talent from Portugal could work for them.

As mentioned, they have seen the likes of Nottingham Forest and Wolves do it successfully and could look to draw on how they have done their business in the past within the country.

It remains to be seen who they were watching, or if they were just taking in a game in general to cast an eye over, but it certainly appears that Portugal is now on their list for potential targets in the future.
