Leeds set to battle for Danny Batth

Leeds United are still thought to be looking to make additions before the loan market closes on Friday.

And, according to the Daily Mirror, it appears that Danny Batth has emerged as a target for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

However, it is believed that they will face stiff competition for the player, with the likes of Sheffield Wednesday also keen on the 27-year-old.

Batth, who is valued at £900k by Transfermarkt, has seen his playing time at Molineux deteriorate over the last couple of seasons and is now thought to be surplus to requirements under Nuno Espirito Santo.

The Elland Road outfit are thought to be lacking options at the back and in particular in the middle, so the addition of the centre-back could be a solid signing.

Leeds have started their Championship campaign in fine form under Bielsa and currently sit top of the table.

The Verdict:

Batth would certainly help to improve the Leeds squad at the back, although he may find it difficult to get regular football at Elland Road.

With the likes of Pontus Jansson, Gaetano Berardi and Liam Cooper already competing to be Bielsa’s first-choice pairing, the Wolves man may not have much of an opportunity to impress.

That said, the club are desperately light at the back and should they suffer an injury to the trio, he would provide them with perfect cover and help their efforts of trying to get back to the Premier League.
