Leeds set to face competition for Karl Darlow - Championship

Leeds United will face competition from one of their Championship rivals for one of their desired targets this January.

According to a report by Football Insider, the Whites will need to battle it out with Nottingham Forest for Karl Darlow.

The goalkeeper previously played for the Tricky Trees before moving to Newcastle United, where he has since fallen out of favour.

Leeds are keen on the 28-year-old and are rumoured to have held several rounds of talks already about the possibility of bringing the shot-stopper to Elland Road, who is understood to be keen on the idea.

Darlow would certainly provide Bailey Peacock-Farrell with some much-needed competition between the sticks, as well as giving Leeds some cover in a position that seriously lacks options.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side are thought to be prioritising a move for a goalkeeper in January after witnessing Jamal Blackman suffer a broken leg that ended his loan spell prematurely.

The Verdict:

The rumoured interest from Nottingham Forest could come as a potentially huge transfer blow to Leeds this winter.

Darlow could be tempted to reunite with his former club and help them in their own quest to achieve promotion to the Premier League.

However, with Leeds sitting at the top of the Championship table at the halfway point, that could be enough to bring the Newcastle man to Elland Road.
