Leeds set to miss out on Oliver Norwood

Leeds United appear to have missed out on another signing this summer as another Championship outfit has beaten them to his signature.

Marcelo Bielsa will have been pleased with the performances of his new side in their opening two games of the season, however, it is believed he still wants to add depth and strength to his squad.

One man that was heavily linked with a move to the Elland Road outfit as the transfer deadline approached was Oliver Norwood, but it now seems he could be heading elsewhere.

According to a report by Football Insider, the Northern Ireland international is set for a medical with Sheffield United, as they have agreed to a deal with Brighton and Hove Albion for the 27-year-old.

It is understood that the midfielder will initially join on a loan deal until January and it will then be converted into a permanent stay for a fee in the region of £2million.

The Verdict:

Leeds will have been disappointed to have missed out on Norwood, as he would certainly have been able to offer Bielsa’s side plenty.

The 27-year-old has enjoyed promotion success from the Championship a number of times and most recently helped to guide Fulham back to the Premier League, something the Whites will have hoped he could help them to do.

Missing out on Norwood is just another one of the frustrations Leeds have had over the course of the summer after they missed out on a number of their targets during the transfer window.
