Finding a striker must be a priority for Leeds United this summer, regardless of what division they are playing their football in next season.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side have lacked the killer edge in some of their matches this season which potentially cost them their chance of winning automatic promotion to the Premier League and has left them to battle it out for a place via the play-offs.
However, it seems the Whites may have found an emerging talent that could lead the line for them at Elland Road in the future.
What’s the News?
According to Spanish journalist Angel Garcia Alvarez (via Marca), Leeds are set to sign Barcelona’s Rafa Mujica this summer.
The Barcelona B forward is out of contract next month and it is thought he is ready to team up with Bielsa at Elland Road.
Mujica will be just the latest name to arrive at Leeds from Spain as it appears rather clear the club are looking at trying to find talent from the Mediterranean nation, with the likes of Kiko Casilla, Pablo Hernandez and Samu Saiz already on their books, plus Oriel Rey, Alex Machuca, Hugo Diaz and Adrian Balboa as well.
The 20-year-old is an exciting forward, who also has the ability to play on either flank as well, and has been in fine form for Barcelona’s B side this season in the Segunda B division, having netted seven goals in his 33 games.
However, whether he would be thrown straight into the first-team at Elland Road next season would remain to be seen, especially if Leeds were able to win promotion to the Premier League.
Mujica is certainly one to keep an eye on in the future, as with the right guidance and development, he could become a seriously good talent, however, he is far from ready to be playing in England’s top-flight at this moment in time.
