Leeds United already boast an impressive academy set-up at Thorp Arch that has produced some top-quality players over the years.
The likes of Jack Clarke, Jamie Shackleton and Bailey Peacock-Farrell have all progressed through the developmental ranks recently, whilst a number of talented players have arrived recently and could also make their first-team breakthroughs soon.
And, it appears that the Whites could be about to add another player in the near future.
It is rumoured that a deal could eventually cost the Whites around £400,000 for the 16-year-old that is widely regarded as an exciting prospect.
It is understood that the alleged fee would be based on appearances as well as a sell-on clause.
McKinstry, who is yet to make his senior debut for the Scottish Premiership side, has had a number of clubs watch him after impressing for their youth side.
Leeds already have a number of talented players at Thorp Arch and it would seem that McKinstry could be about to join them.
The 16-year-old has been earning plaudits in the youth ranks at Fir Park and was also named on the first-team’s substitutes bench in their defeat to Kilmarnock.
If he does join, it will likely be some time before he is seen in action at Elland Road, however, if he develops as the other players to have come through the ranks have, he could be a really exciting prospect in the future.
