Leeds told to make permanent offer for Karl Darlow - Championship

Leeds United are thought to be keen on adding a goalkeeper to their ranks in January once the transfer window opens.

With just Bailey Peacock-Farrell as their only senior shot-stopper, Marcelo Bielsa is keen to add some depth and cover to the position, especially after the Northern Ireland international’s latest performance.

Newcastle United’s Karl Darlow is thought to be one of their main targets this winter, however, they could be about to hit a stumbling block in trying to land him.

According to the Newcastle Chronicle, it appears that the Whites will need to sign him on a permanent deal, with the Premier League outfit set to reject any possible loan moves.

It is suggested that the goalkeeper is valued at around £4million by Newcastle and that they are only prepared to listen to cash offers for their current number two.

The Verdict:

With Leeds looking to push for promotion to the Premier League, they must do all they can to try and land a player like Darlow.

The 28-year-old is a proven goalkeeper at the Championship level and he would certainly create some much-needed competition for Peacock-Farrell, whilst also helping to bolster the position hugely.

However, it remains to be seen if the Elland Road outfit will splash out on the shot-stopper or if they will look to try and sign a different man on a temporary deal instead.
