Bailey Peacock-Farrell and Tom Pearce have both told Leeds United that they want to leave the club this summer, according to a report by Football Insider.
It is claimed the duo are thought to be keen on taking the opportunity to move to new clubs ahead of the transfer window deadline.
Peacock-Farrell is thought to be closing in on a move to Burnley whereas Barnsley are believed to be extremely keen on acquiring Pearce ahead of their return to Championship football.
Both men may have amassed a number of appearances between them for Leeds’ first-team (as noted by Football Insider) but it is hardly a surprise to hear them want to leave the club in search of playing regular football – although the move to Burnley for Peacock-Farrell may be debatable on that front.
The Northern Ireland international is still only 22-years-old, so he is definitely a talent for the future. However, playing regularly in the senior side for the Premier League outfit would seem difficult with the likes of Nick Pope and Joe Hart still in the squad, despite the departure of Tom Heaton to Aston Villa.
Despite making 29 appearances across all competitions and keeping ten clean sheets and conceding 32 goals (Transfermarkt), Marcelo Bielsa admitted he had concerns with the shot-stopper at one stage of the season as it was revealed he was on the verge of being dropped from his starting position. However, he was subsequently handed a slice of good fortune when Jamal Blackman suffered a season-ending injury as it was about to happen (Leeds Live).
Pearce’s desire to leave is hardly surprising either as it was rather evident that he would not have the opportunities that he would have liked under the Argentine manager.
The left-back only managed to make five appearances for the Whites last season before he suffered a foot injury that ruled him out of the festive period. He was subsequently sent on loan to Scunthorpe for the remainder of the campaign and managed to get a taste of regular action in League One, making nine appearances (Transfermarkt).
With Barnsley having already acquired both Mallik Wilks and Aapo Halme, the 21-year-old could certainly enjoy linking up with some of his former Leeds colleagues.
With Kiko Casilla becoming a mainstay in the team following his arrival from Real Madrid in January, it is hardly a surprise to hear that Peacock-Farrell is looking to try and push his move to Burnley through. However, as mentioned, it would be difficult to see the Northern Ireland international getting game-time immediately considering the options the Premier League outfit have available to them.
Pearce is another individual that would seemingly appear to be on the fringes at Elland Road with the likes of Barry Douglas and Ezgjan Alioski both available to Bielsa as left-back options (Transfermarkt).
