Leeds United will want to add firepower this summer in order to avoid a repeat of this season, and fans in the Transfer Tavern will be looking for the club to do all they can to make a positive addition happen.
The Whites failed to build on their early season success, leading to the club spiralling down the Championship table and facing the prospect of a mid-table finish. They brought in a number of players last summer, however, the majority of those failed to pay off so Paul Heckingbottom will want to rebuild the squad.
It will be the first transfer window the former Barnsley manager will have to make the changes he feels are necessary to make the Elland Road outfit more competitive and, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, it looks as though he will target a front-man who has previously been linked with the team.
The media outlet are claiming that the Whites are weighing up a move for Carpi’s Jerry Mbakogu and were handed positive news when it was revealed he had secured Italian citizenship and therefore the right to play in England.
Leeds were interested in the 25-year-old before, however, he would have faced work permit issues having not played for Nigeria, but now those problems have been resolved the Championship side will continue to push on with a possible deal.
The Leeds fans in the Tavern will be delighted that the club are continuing their efforts to find a forward in their push for Premier League football, although the locals will remain sceptical about how well Mbakogu will perform considering he would be arriving from Italy’s second division.
