Leeds United must consider move for rivals’ star striker to finally replace Chris Wood this month

Leeds United have struggled to identify a consistent striker within their squad this season, with summer signings Pawel Cibicki, Jay-Roy Grot , Caleb Ekuban and Pierre-Michel Lasogga failing to replace the goals lost by the sale of Chris Wood to Burnley.

Manager Thomas Christiansen will admit his mistakes, and could look to the current transfer window to provide his squad with a much-needed boost ahead of their promotion push. Fans here in The Transfer Tavern are keen to see a new forward brought in, and explained to our landlord over a game of pool that a lack of movement this month could cost their side a place in the top-six. The Whites fell to defeat at Ipswich Town on Saturday to leave them outside of the playoff places on goal difference, and fans want to see change. A couple of strikers were mentioned, but many were quick to talk about the form of Bolton Wanderers forward, Gary Madine.

The former Sheffield Wednesday man has been in excellent form for the Trotters this season, with his nine goals and five assists keeping the newly promoted side in the running to extend their Championship stay for a second season. The 27-year-old Geordie could be ready to make the step up to the higher level, and given his big six foot three frame, is somewhat in the mould of former man, Chris Wood. Madine is a powerful, team player, with his ability to hold up the ball witnessed by his five assists this term.

The player is passionate and willing, and is the type to do what it takes to secure three points. Fans would take quickly to the former Carlisle United man, who could be the fire power Leeds require to secure a playoff finish this semester.
