Leeds United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be looking ahead to next season’s campaign and punters will be interested in who the club bring in during the summer to help them achieve their aims.
The Whites have had a fall of grace, having seen Thomas Christiansen sacked and replaced by Paul Heckingbottom, and had found it difficult to stop their rot. The locals have been disappointed with a number of their player’s performances, although injuries and suspensions have not helped them.
Punters will be looking at who the Elland Road outfit bring in, and according to reports, a goalkeeper could be one of the priorities that is addressed. The Sun are claiming that Leeds are monitoring Sheffield Wednesday’s Kieren Westwood.
As you can imagine, weakening a Yorkshire rival would go down a storm amongst our resident Whites.
The Republic of Ireland shot-stopper, who has been ruled out of the rest of the season with a groin injury, has a year left on his contract with the Owls and has attracted interest from Southampton and Celtic. The experienced ‘keeper would be a welcome addition to the side as locals have been critical of both Felix Wiedwald and Andy Lonergan this year.
The locals in the Tavern will be interested to learn that they are looking at Westwood as a possible transfer target and will be hoping they can beat the competition to his name, although should he sign, the punters would ultimately reserve judgement until he played a number of games.
With options between the sticks proving a problem this season, Westwood would prove a very popular signing.
