Leeds United fans will be dreaming of Premier League football next season as Marcelo Bielsa has managed to give them some realistic hope of finally winning promotion from the Championship.
Should the Whites achieve top-flight status next season, the club will likely need to improve in certain areas of their field, with a playmaker surely thought to be at the top of the wish list for many involved with the Elland Road outfit.
With Samu Saiz allegedly wanting to remain in Spain, Leeds must look to bring in a replacement in the summer and it appears they may have identified someone who could be an excellent addition for them.
What’s the News?
According to a report by talkSPORT, Leeds are thought to be keeping close tabs on Queen’s Park Rangers’ Luke Freeman, who has had nothing short of a standout season at Loftus Road.
The 26-year-old has seven goals and four assists to his name so far in the current campaign, which follows on from last year’s impressive efforts where he nabbed five goals and 12 assists.
Leeds are understood to have been monitoring the former Arsenal youngster for a while and it is claimed a move will only be able to take place if they do finally achieve Premier League status.
With Saiz appearing to want to stay in Spain, Leeds must act and find a talented playmaker to replace him in the summer and Freeman could be an excellent option for the Whites to target.
As mentioned, the 26-year-old has been in impressive form for QPR and his figures are a lot better than the Spaniard’s over the past couple of seasons, with Saiz only providing seven assists and five goals in his first year at Elland Road before encounter personal issues.
What also makes Freeman appear to be an excellent choice is the fact that a lot of the R’s play comes through the playmaker and he continues to excel despite their lowly position in the Championship table.
A player of the attacker’s quality could thrive under the guidance of Bielsa and could turn out to be a star for Leeds in the Premier League next season, although the Whites will need to overcome a difficult challenge against Bristol City on Saturday to ensure their promotion aims remain on track.
