Luhukay may have just dropped huge hint about lack of transfer activity at Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday fans in the Transfer Tavern would have liked to have seen some new arrivals this summer, however, it appears they may not get what they wish for.

The Owls are currently struggling with their financial situation and are thought to be close to the Financial Fair Play limit as they failed to secure promotion to the Premier League.

The club had the ambition of playing in the top-flight and spent accordingly to try and achieve it with big wages and big transfer fees, however, it now appears to have come back to bite them.

It is believed that should Jos Luhukay want to bring new additions to Hillsborough, he will need to offload some of his players first, although there is not thought to be any interest as of yet.

However, according to a report in the Sheffield Star, the boss may have dropped a huge hint about what he could be prepared to do following the lack of transfer activity.

“We started pre-season with 30 players and we have eight young players from our academy with us. I will see in pre-season how they develop, grow and progress,” he told the media outlet.

“We will try to develop them. Maybe one of these players will start the first game. I hope the players make positive progression. Maybe one of them will surprise us.”

Landlord’s Verdict

The Sheffield Wednesday fans in the Tavern will be concerned with the future of their club and how well the upcoming Championship campaign will go.

Despite hearing the positive news that the youngsters could be about to make an impact in the senior side, the locals will be concerned that they may not be good enough at the level they are trying to represent the side at and will be fearful of their future without any new additions.
