Manchester City set for transfer snub?

alexis.jpgThere are some disappointed faces in the Football Transfer Tavern this morning after it is reported by Sky Sports that Barcelona star Alexis Sanchez has ended speculation about a possible switch to the Premier League after stating he remain a the Camp Nou this summer.

The Chilean international has had a frustrating season, on the fringes of Tito Vilanova’s side and that has brought about speculation that he may be ready to leave.

A whole host of European clubs were understood to preparing offers for the exciting attacking player including Manchester City.

But Barca have now told Sanchez that has a future with the club.

“The club has told me that they want me to stay and now I am more calm,” Sanchez told reporters.

“Everyone has said they want me to stay on and I am happy to be here for another season.

“Other clubs have shown interest in me, but I am happy to remain here and to earn a place in the team, which is most important.

“My intention has always been to stay and to do the best that I can.

“I have learned a lot of new things here. Next season I intend to be at my best. I have also learned a lot on the football front.”

Following 2011 and a £22.2 million move from Udinese, Sanchez has been a relative disappointment at the La Liga champions but he has been given another chance to prove his talents.
