Regardless of whether Leeds United are playing Premier League football next season or not, they are going to need to make some additions in the summer.
Marcelo Bielsa could look to add experience to his squad and the free transfer market might just provide them with the opportunity to find some, with the Argentine seemingly keen on one player set to be available.
What’s the News?
According to a report by Football Insider, Stefan Johansen is understood to be a target and Bielsa has given the green light for the club to try and bring him to Elland Road.
They claim that a source believes the 28-year-old is considered to be “one of the best free agents in the market this summer”.
Regardless of what division Leeds are playing their football in next season, Johansen would be an excellent addition and one that the club should do their utmost to try and bring to Elland Road.
Adding him to the Whites would help to bring some extra creativity to the squad from midfield, something that has been lacking at times, as he has the ability to create chances with his defence-splitting passes.
The Norway international has plenty of experience of playing in England with his time at Fulham, where he was integral to their promotion-winning campaign last season and has proven he can be rather influential when it comes down to the final third, netting 21 goals and 18 assists.
He was excellent during his time at Celtic as well, hitting 19 goals and providing 22 assists during his time with the Scottish Premiership outfit.
Therefore, Johansen could be the ideal man to fill the gap that Samu Saiz left in the winter following his departure and would certainly provide them with something going forward.
Leeds fans, would you be happy to have Johansen at Elland Road? Do you think he is good enough for the Whites? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
