Things will be extremely tense at Elland Road this weekend as Leeds United will be preparing for their match against Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon, as nothing but a win for Marcelo Bielsa’s side will do.
However, he may have dropped an interesting transfer update regardless of what division they are playing in next season.
What’s the News?
Bielsa may have hinted in an interview that Leeds need to find a striker that is more clinical than the current options he has available to him in the future.
Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds, he said: “I’m going to give you some figures which haven’t been taken into account, but for me they have a lot of value. Our team this season has had 100 chances to score and we had 100 chances more than the top two teams [Norwich and Sheffield United].”
Patrick Bamford and Kemar Roofe have been in and amongst the goals for Leeds this season, having netted 24 goals between them, however, whether that is good enough for a club chasing promotion to the Premier League is questionable.
Admittedly, both forwards have spent significant periods of time on the sidelines this season, however, as Bielsa eluded to in his interview, they have been far from clinical when it matters.
If the Whites do achieve promotion to the Premier League this season, there is no doubt that the Elland Road outfit will need to sign a more prolific frontman to lead the line, as those figures are simply not good enough.
It would not be a bad idea to look for a new striker in the summer either, as it would only help to further strengthen the Yorkshire outfit.
Bamford and Roofe still have the perfect opportunity to make their goals count and Leeds will be hoping they can fire them to glory in their game against play-off rivals Aston Villa on Sunday.
