Marcelo Bielsa wants to add a midfielder

Leeds United have started their season off in a successful fashion, however, it appears Marcelo Bielsa is keen on adding a new face to his squad.

According to Phil Hay, the Argentine is keen to add a midfielder to his side before the loan market closes.

The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist revealed that the manager wanted to bring in cover for Samu Saiz and also stated that a defender is not wanted by Bielsa this summer.

It would have been strongly believed that the club needed at least another centre-back to arrive at Elland Road, with the club appear to be extremely light at the back.

They currently have the likes of Pontus Jansson, Liam Cooper and Gaetano Berardi as their main options, and with the skipper being out injured, Barry Douglas had to fill in, whilst the Swiss defender went onto the left-hand side during their 3-0 victory against Norwich City at Carrow Road on Saturday.

The Verdict:

Hay’s tweet has revealed a couple of things that could cause a little concern for some at Leeds.

Bielsa is right to try and bring cover for Saiz this summer as the Spaniard will suffer as the season goes on with the type of game he plays and with what the manager would ask for him.

However, there will be concerns that the Argentine is not prepared to bring in another defender, despite there being a lack of options should they suffer with injuries or suspensions, things that affected the Whites heavily last season.
