More heartache for Leeds United! Having spent 185 days at the top of the Championship table, the Whites are going to have to spend another year in England’s second-tier following their play-off collapse.
Questions will obviously be asked about how the Elland Road outfit will not be in the Premier League next season after looking like sure-fire favourites for the majority of the campaign, however, Marcelo Bielsa endeared himself to the Yorkshire faithful with how well he did.
And, it appears he would be willing to try and get Leeds into the top-flight at the second time of asking, although it seems there will be one condition that must be met.
What’s the News?
According to a report in The Telegraph, Bielsa is more than happy to remain at Elland Road provided Andrea Radrizzani does not tell him to cut costs.
The Argentine is thought to be fearful that he may have to sell some of his best players to help ease financial concerns at the club and would be prepared to walk away if that is something that had to happen.
Bielsa has been a revelation for Leeds (and the English Football League!) this season and it would be a sorry sight to see him leave Elland Road this summer.
However, that all appears to be in Radrizzani’s hands now and the owner must ensure he does everything he can to guarantee the club’s financial position before selling some of their best players.
The Argentine worked miracles with the squad he inherited from Paul Heckingbottom last summer and it is rather remarkable that he took a team that finished in mid-table last season to leading the Championship for almost 200 days.
The thing is, Leeds are going to need to invest in the transfer market anyways as a number of players have not been able to go the distance, whilst certain areas of the squad remain threadbare in key places.
However, keeping Bielsa at Elland Road might just have to be the number one priority for the Whites this summer now and Radrizzani must look to make that happen.
Leeds fans, do you think Radrizzani will be able to give Bielsa the assurances he is seeking? Let us know below!
