Michael Mancienne rejects move to Turkey

Nottingham Forest have had a productive transfer window this summer as Aitor Karanka prepares his side for the upcoming Championship season.

The former Middlesbrough boss took over at the City Ground last year, however, he is using this summer as a way to make his impact on the squad.

Forest finished disappointingly low in the Championship last time out and Karanka is determined to take his side into the Premier League and the signings he has made has shown his intent.

However, the manager is also keen on offloading a number of bodies that he deems surplus to requirements at the Tricky Trees, although it appears that one man who was on the move is now staying put for the time being.

The Nottingham Post, via a report in The Sun, are claiming that Michael Mancienne has snubbed a move to join Turkish outfit Caykur Rizespor.

The 30-year-old has held talks with the second division side having been told he does not have a future with Forest, however, it appears he is not keen on a move there and will see what other options he has.

The Verdict:

Mancienne has featured over 100 times for Forest since his arrival from Hamburg, however, with the signings that have been made, he has found himself further down the pecking order.

Karanka will not be too concerned with the player’s decision not to head to Turkey, as both know there are other clubs interested in the versatile defender.
