Its not been the most exciting of days here at the Football Transfer Tavern, yet a little bit of news on the future of Napoli schemer Marek Hamsik has caused our pints to be placed down and ears to prick up.
Goal.com reports that the player is happy at the club despite speculation that has linked him with a move to just about as many clubs as the tavern boasts ales – and as our landlord says, that’s a lot!
Hamsik told Corriere dello Sport: “I am not thinking about leaving Napoli for another club. The rumours linking me with other clubs don’t affect me.
“I read things, but I don’t know anything about it.I still have a contract with Napoli and there’s no reason for me to leave. The club’s still growing and we’re playing well.”
The 25-year-old midfielder currently has a contract which expires in June 2016 and has provided not only multiple assists this season while linking up especially well with Edinson Cavani but has also found the back of the net 7 times in only 15 games showing exactly why he is so highly sought after.
The Slovakian international had forged part of the so-called deadly trio also comprising Ezequiel Lavezzi and Edinson Cavani last season but with the former departing for big spending Paris Saint Germain in the summer, there will be more of a desire to cling onto his services heading into the second part of the campaign.
