Something that caught not only our attention here at the Football Transfer Tavern but all around the world was AC Milan player Kevin-Prince Boateng’s who recently walked off the field after being racially abused during a training game. As the fallout from this event continues, The Telegraph now claim the player is reconsidering his future in Italian football.
Whilst the vast majority of people applauded the protest and subsequent departure from the field of the AC Milan team, it has cast a shadow on Boateng’s future at the club.
The player himself is no longer prepared to put up with such abuse and has claimed that even if it happened in a Champions League tie against Real Madrid, he would leave the field. He also stated: “I will sleep on it for the next three nights and then sit down with my agent Roger Wittmann next week. We will have to see if it’s really worth carrying on playing in Italy.”
Quite rightly the player has claimed: “I wanted to send out a signal to the whole world that things cannot go on like this. We need to open our eyes. Enough is enough. Racism has no place in football.” It remains to be seen whether Boateng will stay in Italy following the fallout.
