Transfer Rumours

Milan to jump the queue in signing former Chelsea legend?

It seems that here at the Football Transfer Tavern we spend more time discussing the future of 34-year-old Didier Drogba than we do drinking pints – and that’s saying something. This time Gazzetta Dello Sport have claimed via their front page no less that AC Milan are set to pip everyone to the post for former Chelsea legend Didier Drogba

Of course, the Ivorian seems to be in a ‘will he, won’t he’ situation with Juventus – one day a deal is about to be signed and the next Antonio Conte claims the Italian club cannot afford the forward. However if the press are to be believed, AC Milan certainly feel they can afford the forward and want to take him on loan come January.

Drogba of course is so unhappy in China that he would probably accept an offer of a tenner a week to do kick-ups in Fernando Torres’ back garden and show him how it’s done, yet a tug of war between two Italian giants looks set to form and with Juventus chasing the treble and a deal for Fernando Llorente failing in the summer, it seems back up is desperately needed for Conte and the club.

AC for their part literally only want Drogba for Christmas with a loan move until they can secure their top target in the summer – Mario Balotelli who may not love life in Manchester but was pictured on more than one occasion during his time at Inter wearing an AC shirt and even went on a shopping spree in the club store!

Who will win this tug of war, if anyone? Where will Drogba end up? Vote in our polls below.
