Millwall striker completes Forest switch

The Football Transfer Tavern is getting busy this afternoon and punters are sat following the latest transfer activity on Sky Sports as it breaks that Nottingham Forest have signed Millwall forward Darius Henderson.

The 31-year-old striker has moved for an undisclosed fee and has signed for the rest of the season and should make his debut for the Tricky Trees against one of his former clubs Watford on Saturday.

The well-travelled frontman is Alex McLeish’s third signing in the January transfer window, following the captures of defenders Elliott Ward and Gonzalo Jara Reyes both on loan and he has scored seven goals in 22 for the Lions this season.

Forest chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi said: “We are delighted to have brought a player of Darius’s experience to the club.

“He knows all about the Championship and has also played at the highest level in England as well and I’ve no doubts he will be a great addition to Alex McLeish’s squad.”

Dexter Blackstock has also signed a four-and-half year extension at the City Ground, subject to passing a medical. Blackstock had been linked with a move away from Forest in recent weeks with Neil Warnock’s Leeds United believed to have been lining up a bid.

The 26-year-old’s deal was set to expire in the summer and McLeish will be delighted to have the striker secured for the long-term future. Forest now boast an enviable front line, comprising the aforementioned pair as well as regular Championship goalscorers Billy Sharp and Simon Cox.
