New Sunderland boss plotting ambitious move for former Leeds United ace

There’s a busy season on the horizon for Sunderland and new manager Simon Grayson, as he looks to build a side that can bounce straight back to the Premier League at the first attempt.

The Black Cats suffered relegation under David Moyes last time out and former Preston North End manager Simon Grayson has been trusted to guide his new side straight back into the top flight.

It’s not going to be easy though and with the Championship looking as competitive as it has done in years, he’s going to have to bring in some big players over the summer months.

And according to the Chronicle, one man Grayson does have his eye on is former Leeds United winger Max Gradel, whom the outlet now believe is the club’s number one transfer target.

Now with Bournemouth, Gradel has been struggling for match action over the past few months and has spent time away from the club on-loan as he looks to build a future in the Premier League.

But with Grayson having worked with the pacy winger during his stint at Elland Road, there’s hope in the North East that should the Ivorian sign, Grayson will be able to get the best out of him once again.

According to the report, any move would be a season-long loan because of the low finances Grayson has at his disposal.
