Nottingham Forest closing in on Claudio Yacob

Nottingham Forest are on the verge of adding another midfielder to their ranks this summer as Aitor Karanka makes a number of changes to his side.

According to a report by the Nottingham Post, the Tricky Trees are thought to be close to adding Claudio Yacob to their ranks.

The Argentine midfielder is a free agent after he was released from his contract from West Bromwich Albion after their relegation from the Premier League.

And, it appears he could be about to face his former team in the same division as he looks to join the City Ground outfit on a free transfer.

However, Yacob will have his work cut out for him as the central midfield is an area of the pitch that Karanka already has plenty of options available to him.

Ben Watson, Jack Colback, Adlene Guedioura, Liam Bridcutt and Ryan Yates have already been battling it out for a place in the first-team, whilst Panagiotis Tachtsidis joined earlier this week.

The Verdict:

Despite having plenty of members of the squad already able to play in the centre of midfield, the addition of Yacob could prove to be excellent for Forest.

The Argentine has plenty of experience of playing in the Premier League, having made over 150 appearances for the Baggies during his time at the Hawthorns.

It remains to be seen what role Karanka has in mind for the 31-year-old, however, he will certainly help to play a vital role for the City Ground outfit this season.
