Nottingham Forest could be prepared to let one of their midfield options leave on loan in January following a number of arrivals this summer.
It is understood that the Tricky Trees had been open to letting the 20-year-old leave this summer, however, a move never materialised for the player.
Karanka had felt at the time that Yates remaining at the City Ground would be best, however, with the additions that he has made to his central midfield options, means he will consider letting him go out in January.
The 20-year-old impressed during pre-season and also took his chance to shine during the training camp they had in the south of Spain, however, his first-team opportunities now appear to be limited.
With the latest additions of Claudio Yacob and Panagiotis Tachtsidis, Yates’ chances of getting into the first-team now look even slimmer than before.
However, the midfielder is thought to be highly regarded by Karanka, who is obviously keen to keep him on the books at the City Ground.
It is likely that the Championship side will send him out on loan in the winter, however, only if they find the right club for him.
