Nottingham Forest have are thought to be in the January market to bring defensive reinforcements to the club.
Martin O’Neill has overseen two games as manager of the City Ground outfit, with one victory and one defeat so far.
With promotion one of the main targets for the club this season, their defence has been rather inconsistent in the second half of the campaign despite having kept ten clean sheets in the Championship so far.
The Tricky Trees are keen to address the situation and, according to a report by Football Insider, Forest have made an offer for Reading’s Tyler Blackett.
It is claimed a bid of £500,000 has been tabled for the 24-year-old, who has also attracted interest from Wigan Athletic in the window.
The Royals are said to be reluctant to lose the versatile enforcer as they look to retain their status within the Championship.
Blackett is an extremely versatile defender and would be considered an excellent addition to the Nottingham Forest squad.
The 24-year-old can play as a centre-back or as a left-back and would help to strengthen their efforts in trying to stop leaking a number of goals in games as they look to push for a place in the playoffs.
With just a couple of days until the window, it remains to be seen if O’Neill can bring the former Manchester United graduate to the club.
