Nottingham Forest want Jack Colback on permanent deal - Championship

Nottingham Forest are thought to be keen on turning one of their current loan deals into a permanent switch in the summer.

According to a report by the Newcastle Chronicle, the Tricky Trees are thought to be hopeful of trying to land Jack Colback on a free transfer.

The midfielder’s present deal at Newcastle United expires in the summer and the Championship outfit are believed to want to keep him at the City Ground, regardless of whether they are in still in the second-tier or win promotion to the Premier League.

The 29-year-old, who also spent last season on loan with Aitor Karanka’s side, has been a mainstay in the team this year and has been impressive with his performances.

Colback has formed a solid partnership alongside Adlene Guedioura in the middle of the field and the Spaniard appears to have already made a decision on what he wants to do regarding his future.

The Verdict:

Colback has been excellent for Nottingham Forest this season and it is not a surprise that Karanka wants to keep him at the club permanently.

And, provided the player does not opt against a switch, it would appear likely that one will be concluded as Rafa Benitez does not appear to have plans for him at Newcastle.

Alongside Guedioura, Colback has been a force in the middle of the park that has made teams find them difficult to beat as they look to mount a challenge to get Premier League football next season.
