Nottingham Forest and inconsistency appear to go hand in hand this season as the club continue to fail to make a real push for the playoffs. The Tricky Trees had the perfect opportunity to bounce back from a defeat to fellow promotion hopefuls Aston Villa, however, they dropped two points to bottom of the table Ipswich Town at the weekend.
Following the additions that Aitor Karanka made in the summer and Martin O’Neill’s acquisitions in the winter transfer window, one would of hoped for the club to have been in a better position as the Championship campaign draws to a close, however, a number of men have failed to make a real impression.
What’s the News?
One of those men is Karim Ansarifard and it appears he may not be sticking around the club for too much longer if SDNA are to be believed.
The Greek media outlet are claiming that the experienced Iran international forward could head back to Greece after a rather disastrous spell in England – having netted just once in nine league appearances.
It should not really come as a surprise to hear that Ansarifard’s future at Nottingham Forest could come to an end in the summer, despite the long-drawn process they went through in the summer regarding work permits.
There would have been plenty of optimism surrounding his arrival, especially considering how good he looked on paper in terms of the figures he produced for Olympiacos in the previous campaign.
The Iranian had a return of 18 goals in his 27 Super League matches for the Greek giants, so a move made complete sense at the time for the 28-year-old.
However, he does not appear to have a huge role at the City Ground, considering that all but one of his Championship appearances have come from the bench and his goal return has been nothing worth shouting about.
With O’Neill seemingly appearing to favour a number of other players ahead of Ansarifard, it would not be a surprise to see him leave and play his future elsewhere.
Nottingham Forest fans, what do you make of Ansarifard’s time? Do you think he will still be at the club beyond the summer? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
