Literally everyday here at the Football Transfer Tavern we seem to end up talking about former Chelsea hero Didier Drogba, and today is no different with the news Gazzetta Dello Sport provides for us.
With Alexandre Pato set to move on as soon as the transfer window officially opens, the first thing Rossoneri chief Adriano Galliani will do is contact 34-year-old Ivorian striker Didier Drogba. The former Chelsea legend had initially been linked with a move to Juventus, but with Antonio Conte ruling a move out due to financial reasons, AC have since stepped up to the plate.
The Italian giants have little choice but to do business this transfer window with two heavyweight departures expected in Robinho and Pato, leaving the club in dire need of a centre forward. Drogba is seen as the ideal candidate for the short-term until Mario Balotelli can be secured in the summer, and Galliani is taking no chances by getting in contact as early as possible.
Gazzetta claim that AC Milan are the preferred option for Drogba who reportedly has Liverpool and former club Marseille also trailing him but it is expected that he would shun these two clubs in favour of a move to the Rossoneri.
