Leeds United were thought to be on the verge of finally securing a deal for their number one target this January.
However, as the deadline passed, Daniel James remained a Swansea City player and The Whites will have been disappointed with the situation.
It will have been even further infuriating for Marcelo Bielsa’s side considering that the player was all set to join them at Elland Road.
According to Phil Hay, the ‘deal was agreed’ to take the player to Yorkshire and he had passed a medical.
Essentially, deal was agreed, James passed his medical, was sat at ER from about 6pm waiting to be unveiled and Swansea went quiet. Stopped responding to contact and 11pm went by. No deal sheet in with the EFL so as far as this window is concerned, James to Leeds isn't happening.

However, the Yorkshire Evening Post journalist has revealed that Swansea had stopped responding to any contact and allowed the deadline to expire.
The Wales international is thought to have told the Swans that he wanted to leave and is extremely disappointed that a move was not completed.
The news about James’ cancelled deal will come as a bitter blow to everyone involved, except for Swansea.
The player obviously wanted to join the Championship leaders and Leeds were keen on bringing him to Elland Road having chased him all winter.
To have a deal all but finalised will have been infuriating as well, but Bielsa will need to forget about what could have been and will now need to win promotion to the Premier League without James in his squad.
