Leeds United fans in the Transfer Tavern could be handed some good news for the first time in ages as they look to get things sorted out this summer.
The Whites are in a state of disarray at the moment as they continue their search for a new manager, having dismissed Paul Heckingbottom from his role last week. The timing for some of the locals could not have been worse, with the transfer window in full swing and the club keen to make additions.
However, the departure of the former boss does not appear to have had too much of an effect on one signing, with Leeds Live claiming that Abel Hernandez is on the verge of completing a deal to join them from Hull City on a free transfer.
The Uruguay international, whose contract expires at the end of the month, has held productive talks with owner Andrea Radrizzani and look to land his signature following Aston Villa’s failure to win promotion to the Premier League.
The Villans were expected to be favourites to land the 27-year-old, however, Leeds are now in pole position to swoop in for the forward, although it could be a costly move for the Yorkshire outfit.
The Leeds fans in the Tavern will be delighted that there appears to be some positive news on the horizon and many will feel that Hernandez can be the difference to helping them achieve their aims of Premier League football.
The international has a solid record in the division when it comes to finding the back of the net and the locals will be hoping he can fire them back into the top-flight.
