Glasgow Rangers have the opportunity to make an "exciting appointment" if they are successful in luring Michael Beale back to the Ibrox dugout.

The Lowdown: Beale comeback

After impressing in the Championship, Beale is reportedly 'open' to talks at Ibrox to potentially be Giovanni van Bronckhorst's successor.

Of course, he knows the Ibrox dugout well, having served as a member of Steven Gerrard's backroom staff when the now-Aston Villa boss was in charge of the Gers.

The Latest: O'Rourke backs Beale

According to journalist Pete O'Rourke, Rangers would do well in handing Beale the managerial reigns and believes he was a key reason behind Gerrard's success at the club.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, O'Rourke said: “I think he would be an exciting appointment for Rangers fans.

“The supporters are very keen on Beale and he obviously had a very successful time with the club under Steven Gerrard.

“It was Beale who did a lot of the coaching and set-up of the team during Gerrard’s successful time in charge at Ibrox.”

The Verdict: Head elsewhere?

Ever since the links away from QPR, Beale's side have failed to win across their last five games, succumbing to four defeats and scoring just one goal in that time.

His head may well be elsewhere, and throughout the early half of the season he was able to show his possession-based style, which saw QPR reach the pinnacle of the Championship table for a short time.

Knowing how to achieve success in the Scottish Premiership, having had a hand in it during Gerrard's tenure, Beale is a safe-bet for Rangers with both parties looking to fulfil their potential.

This marriage could see both the manager and the club achieve just that.
