It is believed that Fulham told former Liverpool player John Arne Riise he could leave the club this month sparking speculation about where the player will be come the end of the month. It also sparked a foul mouthed rant from the player’s brother.
Bjorn Helge Riise claimed to Sunnmorsposten that: “Martin Jol is disliked by most players and can act very arrogantly.” He did not stop there however and added fuel to the fire by stating “He is OK with those he likes, but does not speak to those who are at odds with him. I am not surprised by this [falling out].”
Whilst this could be considered as little more than sour grapes from a player who has been rejected personally by the manager, it cannot help his brother’s cause at the club. In a fully family affair, the agent of both boys is their mother who weighed in on the future of her son.
She claimed “no comment, unfortunately. Right now there is nothing to report, but things can happen quickly.”
John Arne Riise signed for the Cottagers in 2011 but enjoyed the best spell of his career at Liverpool whereby he quickly built up a reputation as an attack-minded left back with a hammer of a left foot from set pieces.
