Report: Leeds identify interesting alternative to Vydra this summer

Leeds United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be looking forward to the upcoming season with Marcelo Bielsa in charge, however, they would like to see a couple of additions arrive beforehand.

The Whites have already added Lewis Baker to the side on loan deal from Chelsea, however, the squad is still lacking in strength in certain areas.

A goalkeeper, centre-back and attackers are thought to be a priority of Bielsa and according to a report by Football Insider, it appears that the new Leeds boss has one man at the top of his list.

There is no secret that Matej Vydra is wanted at Elland Road this summer, however, it is being claimed that Aston Villa’s Jonathan Kodjia could be their alternative go-to man, should a move for the Czech Republic international fall through.

Leeds may look to use the current financial situation the Villa Park outfit find themselves in as an advantage as they know they may have to be forced into selling their stars in order to fund themselves.

Landlord’s Verdict

The Leeds fans in the Tavern will be interested in the possibility of having Kodjia at Elland Road, should they fail to land Vydra.

The Ivory Coast international was prolific in his debut season with the Villans, before he suffered with a number of serious injuries in the last campaign.

Knowing that Aston Villa could be forced to sell, the locals in the bar will be delighted if they can bring the former Bristol City striker to Elland Road on a cut-price fee.
