Report: Leeds in advanced talks with overseas prolific striker

Leeds United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be wanting to see a number of players added to their squad this summer and will be keen for the club to strengthen ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Marcelo Bielsa has been tasked with trying to take the Whites out of the Championship and into the Premier League, following their disappointing season last year that saw two managers be in charge throughout the campaign.

The Argentine is desperate to strengthen a number of areas in his squad and the striking department is one that has been a concern for the locals. However, reports in Algeria are suggesting that Leeds are about to bring a prolific goalscorer to Elland Road in the near future.

Mohamed Brahdji of DZFoot is claiming that Baghdad Bounedjah is in advanced talks about a switch to the Championship outfit, although is taking his time on a decision, with links of a move to Lille OSC also on the cards.

Playing for Al Sadd in Qatar, the 26-year-old has scored 28 times in 21 games, which has led to the Yorkshire outfit being interested in him, despite his lack of European football.

One thing that could go against the Elland Road outfit is that he is looking for a similar wage packet and it is believed the Whites are offering less than what he currently earns.

Landlord’s Verdict

The Leeds fans in the Tavern will have an air of caution about a deal for Bounedjah as a number of the locals will know nothing, if very little about the Algeria international striker.

Despite his record in the Qatari league, it would be a far cry from the level of football played in the Championship and a number of the punters would be concerned with how he would handle the pressure of English football.
