Report: Nottingham Forest close in on massive double agreement, medical expected today

Nottingham Forest fans in the Transfer Tavern will be excited with the latest news coming out of the City Ground this summer as they prepare for next season.

According to a report in The Telegraph, the Tricky Trees are set to smash their transfer record with the capture of Joao Carvalho from Benfica in a deal worth £13.2million. Aitor Karanka is believed to be backed with a significant amount of funding this summer and looks set to confirm signing of the Portugal Under-21 international after he has completed a medical later today.

The former Middlesbrough manager has been making a number of movements in the transfer window so far, as the report claims that a second arrival from Benfica is on the cards, as Diogo Goncalves is set to follow Carvalho to the City Ground on a season-long loan deal.

These two major signings certainly represent a coup for Forest, but they are just the beginning for Karanka this summer as he is reportedly targeting up to eight new men to help his side improve on their recent disappointing season in which they finished 17th in the Championship.

Landlord’s Verdict

The Nottingham Forest fans in the Tavern will be delighted that the club are able to bring players with quality to the side and will hope the Benfica pairing will give them a genuine chance of returning to the Premier League next season.

The locals in the bar will be excited to see Carvalho in action and will hope he is worth the record-breaking transfer fee it will take to bring him to the City Ground this summer.
