It is expected that Leeds United and Marcelo Bielsa will look to the winter transfer window when it opens to help improve their squad.
The Whites, who are sitting near the summit of the Championship table, have seen a number of players injured throughout the campaign, leaving them short of options in certain areas of the pitch.
Bielsa offloaded a number of players in the summer that he did not deem necessary, whilst some of those he has brought in to Elland Road have yet to make the real impact the club would have desired.
However, it appears that one man he failed to land could become available to snap up in the winter, should the Argentine still hold an interest in him.
Leeds are thought to have had an approach for the 21-year-old turned down, however, Jose Mourinho is thought to be open about letting the Scotland international leave for six months to improve on his football.
An Old Trafford source told The Sun: “Scott is wanted by a number of clubs and there are offers on the table already.
“The club are not totally against the idea of him going. There was a lot of interest in him in the summer.”
McTominay made a prominent rise to the first-team last season, however, he has struggled to make the same impact this time around, although he has been played out of position.
He could be exactly what Leeds need to help them push on beyond the winter break and into the final part of the campaign as he would certainly provide Bielsa’s side with more options.
However, it remains to be seen if the Whites are still interested in the 21-year-old, or if they consider him someone that can be beneficial to their efforts.
With the injuries they have already had so far, the Elland Road outfit may decide to look at strengthening other positions as a priority and may rule a move for McTominay out.
