Sheffield Wednesday announce Omar Damba deal

Sheffield Wednesday announced the appointment of Steve Bruce as their new manager and it appears they have another piece of exciting news to share.

The Owls confirmed on their official website that Omar Damba had signed a professional contract with them after a successful trial period with the Development Squad.

The forward had impressed during his time with the Under-23s and stated that he is delighted to sign for a club of the Hillsborough outfit’s stature, whilst also revealing his aims for the future.

“I’m very happy, it’s my first professional contract and I’m looking forward to start,” he said.

“It’s an historic club and I’m here to give everything and help the team. I want to score goals.

“I want to play for the first team and I will give my everything to get there.

“The people have been very nice with me, I feel comfortable and they are helping me, so I’m happy.”

Things have started to improve for the Owls recently in the Championship and Bruce will be keen to see that continue before he takes over on February 1.

The Verdict:

Damba has obviously impressed during his trial with the club’s developmental side and did enough to win himself a contract.

He is likely to spend the majority of his time with the club’s development squad and appears to have a bright future ahead of him.

The youngster already has huge ambitions that he wants to achieve and if he continues to impress, he could have the chance to realise them sooner rather than later.
