Sheffield Wednesday face battle for Danny Batth

Sheffield Wednesday are expected to face a tough battle to land one player this summer as interest continues to mount.

According to a report by The Daily Mail, the Owls are thought to be facing competition for Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Danny Batth.

It has been claimed that Ipswich Town have now joined the race to land the out of favour enforcer, with Leeds United already thought to be challenging for his signature as well.

The Hillsborough outfit are keen to add defensive reinforcements to their squad this summer and will see the 27-year-old as the ideal man to help them with their efforts in the Championship this season.

Batth has played at the Yorkshire side previously, having spent two temporary loan spells at the club and would benefit Jos Luhukay’s side immediately.

The Verdict:

The Owls will want to land the £900k-rated enforcer, as per Transfermarkt, however, they will face stiff competition for him.

Wednesday will need to add defenders to their ranks this summer if they are to remain competitive this summer, following a difficult transfer window that had included an embargo.

With the likes of Ipswich and Leeds both rumoured to be interested in him, Luhukay’s side may found it difficult to convince him to return to the club once again.
