Sometimes we here in the Football Transfer Tavern reckon that the sagas in football give soap operas something to aspire to and given the story Sky Sports report about wantaway Inter Milan player Wesley Sneijder, we can hardly be blamed for that.
Of course in football we have had the love sagas – Paul Scholes and the dodgy tackle, Fergie and Howard Webb – you get the picture. Not to mention the always popular will they won’t they – Cesc Fabregas and Barcelona which now looks set to be eclipsed by Gareth Bale and Real Madrid.
Wesley Sneijder however is threatening to blow all of these out of the water with his potential move from the San Siro. As has been heavily reported, Sneijder currently finds himself frozen out in Milan after rejecting the Nerazzurri’s decision to cut his wages, leading Massimo Moratti to claim: “I’m tired of this saga. I don’t know how this story will end.”
The midfielder was reported to be close to joining Turkish outfit Galatasaray, and the chief of bitter rivals Fenerbahce Abdullah Kigili has cast scorn on the club and their financial capacity, telling Vatan: “If what I’m reading about is correct, the cost of Sneijder is both astronomical and absurd. Where will Galatasaray get this money?”
