Steve Bruce could be about to reunite with one of his backroom members at Sheffield Wednesday.
According to The Sunday Mirror (27 January 2019, page 67), via HITC Sport, David Downes could be about to join up with his former boss at Hillsborough.
It is understood that Aston Villa will allow the scout to leave the club to reunite with Bruce.
Downes would not be the only man that Bruce has brought to the Yorkshire outfit since replacing Jos Luhukay.
Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence have both followed the 58-year-old from his previous role at the Championship outfit and have overseen things for him this month.
Sheffield Wednesday have certainly improved on the field since the announcement that Bruce would be taking over.
Having been knocked out of the FA Cup by Chelsea at the weekend, they will now turn their focus towards having a successful Championship campaign.
Bruce appears to like having some familiarity at the clubs he works at and a move to bring Downes could benefit Sheffield Wednesday.
The scout was believed to be involved within the youth ranks at Aston Villa and could be utilised in the same role at Hillsborough.
The likes of Matt Penney and Jordan Thorniley have come through the academy and with the help of Downes, a number more could come through in the future.
