Update provided for forgotten Leeds man Aapo Halme

Leeds United will be preparing for the upcoming Championship campaign with Marcelo Bielsa in charge, however, they have just over two weeks left to bring in a number of additions.

The Argentine had been hoping to have concluded the majority of his transfer business already, however, continuous setbacks have halted their progress.

The Whites have seen moves for Matej Vydra and Abel Hernandez collapse due to wage demands, whilst the Elland Road outfit could not come to an agreement with Birmingham City for David Stockdale.

Bielsa has also been quick to offload a number of players from his squad, which has left it looking rather trim recently, however, one forgotten man appears to still be at the club.

Aapo Halme has been at Leeds since January when he signed from HJK Helsinki, however, the centre-back has not made a single appearance for the first-team and rarely featured in the developmental side.

He still has not featured for the Whites during pre-season and has not yet been sent out on loan like the others, however, his agent has revealed a key update about his client.

Taking to Twitter, Jonne Lindblom stated that Halme is still injured and would need another month or two to recover from the serious foot injury he sustained.

The Verdict:

Leeds are looking very slim at the back with the options that they currently have and Halme’s injury may not have been an initial concern for Bielsa.

However, if the new manager is unable to make a number of improvements during the final stages of the transfer window, the young Fin may need to become called upon.

If he can stay fit and get regular minutes with the Under-23 side, he could still have a future at Elland Road, despite many having forgotten the player was at the club.
