Transfer Rumours

Venky’s Confirm £6.2m Ronaldinho Bid

Well you heard it here first, but it would seem that there has been a lot more truth in the reports that Blackburn were ready to make a swoop for AC Milan forward Ronaldinho.

Sky Sports are now reporting that Indian owners, Venky’s, have confirmed that they have tabled a £6.2million bid for the former World Player of the Year’s services.

Venky’s originally denied reports of their interest in the 30-year-old but are now clearly ready to state their intentions regarding the future of the club.

Steve Kean will still have a transfer budget to play with in the January window and this is seen as a separate project by their Indian owners. Reports emerging this morning have suggested that the Blackburn owners are ready to offer Ronaldinho £130’000 p/w, but are willing to stop at nothing to get their man.

Brazilian side Gremio had been favourites to land the former Barcelona star but may struggle to compete with the financial clout of the Lancashire club. This could leave Ronaldinho with a tough decision between the beaches of Brazil or a bumper bank account.

Venky’s are said to have been tracking the World Cup winner for a number of weeks, even prior to the shock sacking of Sam Allardyce sparking debate as to whether the former Bolton manager was dismissed regarding transfer targets.

Which ever way you look at it, whether it be an audacious success or a brave failure, this is a gutsy move by Rovers new owners and certainly shows their intent for the future. Questions have been asked whether Blackburn’s new Indian owners really had the cash to back up their ambition and such a coup would silence any doubters for now.
