Leeds United will need to make a number of changes in the summer, regardless of whether they are in the Premier League or not. Marcelo Bielsa’s squad will need to have some work done to it and that could involve a number of names being axed.
Victor Orta is expected to have a busy transfer window and it appears that he is already working hard to ensure one man does not make a return to Elland Road once the campaign comes to an end.
What’s the News?
According to Football Insider, Orta is working pro-actively in his attempts to offload Samu Saiz this summer.
The Spaniard joined Getafe in the winter on a temporary deal with a view to a permanent stay, however, there are doubts that clause will be triggered and the director of football is looking at alternative options.
The Whites are believed to have no plans for him to return to Elland Road and want him gone ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Saiz lit up Elland Road in his first season at the club, quickly becoming a fan favourite with everyone in the stands as he scored five goals and provided eight assists in his 34 Championship appearances, however, things certainly did not go as planned in the current campaign.
And, as such, it really does not come as a surprise to hear that Orta is looking to offload him in the summer permanently.
The playmaker has struggled during his time at Getafe, which could make the process of trying to sell him a lot harder, although the 28-year-old has shown that he can be extremely productive when he is on the top of his game, something that Bielsa will certainly not accept at Leeds if those performances are too far and between.
Whether those performances will make it more difficult for the Whites to find a buyer remains to be seen, but if they are able to shift him from their wage bill in the summer permanently, then it would have to be considered good news all-around.
Leeds fans, do you think Orta can offload Saiz permanently? Or do you think he could face trouble in trying to conclude a deal with someone? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
