West Brom could lose Harvey Barnes in January

West Bromwich Albion may have just received some concerning news about one of their standout players.

According to the Leicester Mercury, Claude Puel could look at recalling youngster Harvey Barnes from his loan spell at the Baggies in January.

The Leicester City manager has been impressed with the performances from the 20-year-old and has admitted he could look to bring him back to the King Power Stadium earlier than expected.

Barnes, who was recalled from a loan spell in January last season as well, has starred for the Championship outfit as he has netted three goals and provided two assists from his eight league matches so far.

“We will see,” Puel admitted to the Leicester Mercury when asked about whether he will recall him.

“Of course I follow Barnes, I follow Filip Benkovic (on loan at Celtic) and everyone on loan. It is important to look at their performance. We will see what happens in January.

“Harvey had some game-time last season. It was interesting. He came back in January with us. At the beginning of the season, he was not ready to remain with us.

“He wanted game-time to play and didn’t have the good focus with us. We will see in January and at the end of the season.”

The Verdict:

West Brom will be concerned with the news that Puel could be prepared to recall Barnes from his temporary deal at The Hawthorns.

The 20-year-old has been one of the best players for the club this season so far and his performance will be considered to be key for the club in their efforts to get promoted back to the Premier League.

Darren Moore will want to keep hold of him for the remainder of the campaign, although Puel could have different ideas.
