West Bromwich Albion are keen to rebuild their squad ahead of the upcoming Championship season and will be looking at bringing in a number of additions.
The Baggies have already sorted their goalkeeping department out with the arrivals of Sam Johnstone and Jonathan Bond, with a deal for Simon Moore thought to be in the pipeline, to replace Ben Foster and Boaz Myhill.
Albion have also added Kyle Bartley to fill in at centre-back, with both Jonny Evans and Gareth McAuley leaving the club this summer, whilst Craig Dawson is also said to want to leave.
Darren Moore is now rumoured to be looking at his attacking options and according to reports, has asked a Premier League side if they would allow one of their players to join up with him at The Hawthorns on a season-long loan.
According to the Newcastle Chronicle, the Baggies are interested in taking Dwight Gayle on a temporary deal, with Salomon Rondon expected to head the other way in a separate transfer.
However, Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez is thought to have snubbed the idea of his striker leaving and sees him as part of his plans for this year’s Premier League campaign.
The Baggies are expected to lose both Rondon and Jay Rodriguez this summer and a loan for Gayle would not have been bad business.
The striker is a proven goalscorer at the Championship level, having netted 23 times for the Magpies as he helped guide them back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
However, it appears unlikely that Albion will be able to lure him away from St. James’ Park this summer as Benitez remains keen on keeping the 27-year-old with him and sees him vital to his plans for the upcoming season.
