West Bromwich Albion have been spending the summer bracing themselves for a number of offers for their star players following the fallout of last season.
The Baggies were relegated from the Premier League and have already seen the likes of Ben Foster, Jonny Evans and Gareth McAuley leave, whilst a host of other names have made it clear that they would also like to depart this summer.
Darren Moore has been trying to rectify those concerns by bringing in a number of new recruits and has already been adding to his side. He has already signed Sam Johnstone and Jonathan Bond to rebuild his goalkeeping department, whilst Kyle Bartley was also brought in to bolster his defence.
The manager is now thought to be looking at his striking options, with both Jay Rodriguez and Salomon Rondon expected to leave and according to TeamTALK, one man features highly on his list.
The media outlet are claiming that Middlesbrough’s Britt Assombalonga is one man that has attracted the interest of the Baggies, considering their former manager, Tony Pulis, regards the striker as surplus to requirements.
Assombalonga would be a smart signing for West Brom to make this summer as they look to add reinforcements to their squad. With the possibility of Rodriguez and Rondon expected to leave the Hawthorns, the striker would certainly help to replace one of them.
Despite his troubles at Middlesbrough over the last season, he has proven that he is more than capable of scoring a number of goals in the Championship, having netted 30 strikes during his time at Nottingham Forest, whilst also adding a further 13 this time out.
With the player deemed surplus to requirements at the Riverside Stadium, Moore may be able to bring him to the Midlands on a relatively cheap deal, as Pulis will want to offload the 25-year-old from his wage bill as quickly as possible.
